Expectations: I define it as the assumption or presumption of a predicted hope.
From the very minute of our conception, our parents had a perception of who we would be....whether we be boy or girl, we're told that we are meant to change,that we are superheroes and princesses; nothing short of perfection.
From the first time someone special looked us in the eyes and told us all those lies of who we are supposed to be, only to realize that it was nothing more than a deception. Yet we try and we try to make it all work out and be the best we can be yet we, sometimes, fail.
Then comes the stress and anxiety of not being able to live up to what we are expected to be.
You look in the mirror and see that you are not even close to who you are supposed to be and you scratch, claw and stumbling over anyone in your way, forgetting to even see who's on your way. And then you begin to make yourself immune to the pain untill you feel nothing......and at night, it's just you and your heart that has been completely torn apart. You sit all alone and begin to think, thinking about your parents, "will they like me... Am i good enough..will they accept me??? " cos all you do is live for their approval. So day after you live your life this way, AFRAID!!! Afraid of the Expectations bestowed upon you. Afraid of the hoops you must jump through. Afraid of the disappointments. Because we are all flesh and blood.All that is left for you is to ask the question,
"WHO AM I" ?
You thought you were a doctor but after your first Bio test you put that into rest.
You thought you were a musician but on your first day your instructor said that "no one would ever pay to see you play"
You thought you were a baller to take clean shots but in the training the coach asks, "who in their right minds would ever wanna see you play?''
SO WHO ARE YOU?
Cos the expectation on you is damn high, mummy and daddy are they gonna accept the failure? They are expecting "Superman" and nothing less...they dont even have time for you and your "mess". So everyday we put on a show, like a big talk circus and we thirst for the applause of others and when don't get it we're broken to the core...hmmm!!!! Then the desire of love is shot deeper and deeper into the depths of our hearts.
I mean, look at us!!!!!!!!
* Girls have to wear masks to feel pretty and boys have to control their body to look strong, healthy or masculine.
Is this the way that life is meant to be??
Well, the sooner you realize that you shouldn't let others define who you are, the better for you. We allow ourselves to be abandoned and tossed around by the wind of peoples judgement because everyday when we wake up, we wake up into a world full of hate and brokenness. Everyday when we wake up we have to put on a show so that everyone believes that we are fine, when in reality we're dying inside, when in reality we are craving for affection.
CAN'T YOU SEE? God has made you whole from day1. YOU should be loved; loved for who you are such that you do not have to become anything or anyone that you,actually, are not because you're perfectly made, just the way you are.
So put on your self confidence you are lacking the vision to see that the love you seek is Jesus saying, "come to me"
From this day forward, refuse to be defined by others, instead, choose to live by the applause of an audience of one, the one who looks in the heart.
Refuse to follow the crowd and listening to the doubters and mere "sayings".....instead, listen to the rhythm of nature, the sound of your heartbeat. Refuse to have a people-pleasing envious heart but rather to LOVE.
This one thing remains, as i fall deeper into the love of God, I realize,"it's Ok to fail". We sing a song "where feet may fail", but even if my feet fail, at least, I'll sink in His ocean of grace.
God has created everyone with a plan, purpose and a destiny for him/her...freee of expectations. But men look at you and they decide what you should become without giving you a chance or choice to understand yourself and decide what you can beccome...that's why many people today are frustrated in life, because they ended up living the dreams of others, while they allowed who they really are slip away from them. Your life is all about you....don't let anybody tell you otherwise. It's ok to help people but it's better you find yourself first cos "the blind cann not lead the blind"....
YOU CAN BE ANYTHING,JUST CHOOSE WHAT!!
